The Wolf Chase returns

Click on the Wolf for more details:

It wasn’t the howls of the Wolf you heard at WIN stadium for the first home game against Marconi, but the howls of rabid 6-10 year olds as they got the “GO” signal for the start of the Wolf Chase from MC Andrew Byron.
And GO it was as the returning mascot and crowd favourite launched himself down the pitch at half-time with a prize of $10 tied to his tail.   After entertaining the crowd with some seriously hopeless warm-up exercises and a couple of false starts from the twitchy youngsters the race was on. Every kid in the line-up had his eye on the $10 tail and as the dash for cash started, the sheer power of the Wolf’s acceleration dislodged his tail and left the glittering prize on the freshly mown pitch. A ferocious battle ensued before the successor emerged with the bounty – an anti-climax after the huge build-up.
The Wolf has been known in the past to cover the whole 100 metres before being brought down and de-tailed by a nippy junior, but this week it wasn’t to be. We understand he is in training for the next home game against Blacktown, so parents, bring down your best young guns, your sprinters and regional champions and see who can emerge, victorious, from the next Wolf Chase.
